Critical fibre relocation within complex operational rail environments.
Cape Dunstans delivered the relocation and installation of critical fibre-optic communications infrastructure between East Perth and Bayswater.
The $1.2 million package formed part of the METRONET upgrade of Bayswater Station to support the new Ellenbrook and Airport train lines. Works were completed while maintaining existing communications services within the operational Midland Line rail reserve.
Project delivery included:
Construction of PTA-compliant underground communications routes using trenching, excavation, under-boring and horizontal directional drilling.
Repurposing an abandoned gas pipeline to establish a diverse fibre route, together with three 32 mm HDPE conduits, access pits and under-track crossings.
Supply, hauling and installation of single-mode optical-fibre cable, including FOBOTs, fibre joints, loops, location cases and containment infrastructure.
