Greg Hutchinson brings over 20 years  industry experience in the engineering construction industry across infrastructure, resource and energy sectors, in Australia and internationally to his role as Cape’s Chief Executive Officer.

As CEO, Greg is responsible for leading the business in accordance with Cape’s strategic plan, and our operational and capital budgets.  He is a proven leader with a focus on creating sustainable success for our clients through fit-for-purpose planning and constructive consultation.

Prior to taking on the CEO position at Cape, Greg was Cape’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) and has lead Cape’s day-to-day business operations since 2018. Greg has also held senior roles with BGC Construction, NRW,  Ertech (FormAction).

Throughout his career he was responsible for the performance of numerous construction projects, some with budgets in the hundreds of millions.  These include the design and construction of a major highway extension, the diversion of water and flood protection for a mine site, airport refurbishment and the construction of major workshops.

As BGC’s Manager of Business Development and Construction, Greg was responsible for the identification of market sectors, geographical locations, clients and opportunities for the business to pursue across WA, South Australia and the Northern Territory.  Greg was part of Senior Leadership teams with the company, and was responsible for planning the future direction of the business.

Over his 5 years as Operations Manager with NRW Pty Ltd, Greg oversaw major construction projects across the mining sector.  This included the $600-million construction of 330 kilometres of rail embankment and drainage works, linking the Roy Hill mine site to the Port Hedland port.

Greg’s path to these positions was built on solid engineering and management qualifications, and time spent in diverse roles.  These include being a board member, a Senior Project Engineer in London and lead roles as an Estimator.

Chris Byers, Chief Financial Officer

Chris Byers is a chartered accountant with more than a decade’s finance experience across a diverse range of sectors including mining services, financial services, property and health.

As Chief Financial Officer, Chris is responsible for the finance and IT functions at Cape. Chris’ mantra is that Finance is a service centre that is truly successful when key stakeholders receive accurate and timely financial information in a manner that adds value to the business.

Prior to joining Cape in 2015, Chris worked with a number of high profile mining services organisations with annual turnovers in excess of $100 million and order books approaching $2 billion.

He is a specialist in financial reporting and cashflow management for complex businesses. Over the course of his career he has redesigned processes and structures to improve reporting and payments, streamlined cash flow forecasting and has also worked with closely with major investment banks to secure external funding for acquisitions and growth projects.

The role Chris plays in ensuring the ongoing strength of Cape cannot be understated. His track record of success and focus on managing and improving the financial health of the business ensures that Cape is able to provide first class services to its clients today, tomorrow and well into the future.


Jason Curtis, General Manager of Operations

Jason Curtis holds the position of General Manager of Operations at Cape. A highly experienced construction and engineering professional, Jason’s broad skills cover company, project and construction management in the civil engineering, mining, infrastructure and building disciplines.

Jason brings to the team experience from a wide variety of projects that cover the water industry, mining, heavy rail, civil, marine and telecommunications.

As GMO, Jason is responsible for ensuring the delivery of existing projects and securing future opportunities.  He does this whilst leading and supporting a strong culture of collaborative performance. Jason works tirelessly to uphold Cape’s culture of working with clients for the best possible outcome.

Jason’s extensive experience includes being Regional Manager at Decmil, a respected construction company working across the resources, government, infrastructure and oil and gas sectors.

Holding the position of Project Director at Brookfield Multiplex, Jason delivered significant projects at Roy Hill Mine and the Mundairing Water Treatment plant. As the WA Operations Manager for Guidera O’Connor, Jason gained specialised design and construction experience in the water and wastewater sector. Jason has many other projects under his belt, including managing the civil works at FMG’s Cloudbreak mine.

Jason is a proven entity when it comes to building and managing the right team for the right job. He is an integral part of Cape, and will ensure your projects are competed on time and on budget.


Luke Howard, General Manager Strategy & Business Development

With a background in strategy, business development, transformation, marketing and corporate governance, Luke Howard brings a diverse and cross-functional skillset to the Cape Executive Team.

As General Manager Strategy & Business Development, Luke is responsible for managing Cape’s relationships with its Mining, Utilities and Infrastructure clients, ensuring the company meets and exceeds their diverse expectations. He is also responsible for driving the sustainable growth of Cape through identifying and developing new business opportunities to extend the company’s value chain.

Prior to being appointed to his current role, Luke held various diverse senior roles in the CFC Group. A commercially astute and pragmatic leader, Luke has an outstanding track record of value creation, for both client and company.

Luke has a laser focus on optimising organisation capability to deliver the most competitive offering to clients. This includes developing and implementing a scaleable business model that can respond quickly to meet the changing market needs. A leader in his field, Luke measures Cape’s success by the success of its clients.


Phil Scott, General Manager People & Process

Phil Scott

General Manager People & Process

With almost 15 years of Human Resources, Business and Management experience, Phil brings with him proven success in a number of senior positions with a demonstrated capability in driving organisational change, building high performing teams and executing strategic plans.

Phil’s diverse and extensive experience includes working for the Lionel Samson Sadleirs Group, where he worked across all areas of Human Resource Management, Compliance and Safety and was an active member of the Groups Executive Leadership Team.

Prior to joining CAPE, Phil also worked for Brookfield owned LINX Cargo Care, providing support to the leadership staff through consistent guidance and coaching on a number of complex Industrial relations matters.

As the General Manager of People and Process, Phil will lead the delivery of best practice solutions that empower our employees and leaders to deliver on organisational objectives.
