Greg Hutchinson brings over 20 years  industry experience in the engineering construction industry across infrastructure, resource and energy sectors, in Australia and internationally to his role as Cape’s Chief Executive Officer.

As CEO, Greg is responsible for leading the business in accordance with Cape’s strategic plan, and our operational and capital budgets.  He is a proven leader with a focus on creating sustainable success for our clients through fit-for-purpose planning and constructive consultation.

Prior to taking on the CEO position at Cape, Greg was Cape’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) and has lead Cape’s day-to-day business operations since 2018. Greg has also held senior roles with BGC Construction, NRW,  Ertech (FormAction).

Throughout his career he was responsible for the performance of numerous construction projects, some with budgets in the hundreds of millions.  These include the design and construction of a major highway extension, the diversion of water and flood protection for a mine site, airport refurbishment and the construction of major workshops.

Greg’s path to these positions was built on solid engineering and management qualifications, and time spent in diverse roles.  These include being a board member, a Senior Project Engineer in London and lead roles as an Estimator.

Chris Byers, Chief Financial Officer

Chris Byers is a chartered accountant with more than a decade’s finance experience across a diverse range of sectors including mining services, financial services, property and health.

As Chief Financial Officer, Chris is responsible for the finance and IT functions at Cape. Chris’ mantra is that Finance is a service centre that is truly successful when key stakeholders receive accurate and timely financial information in a manner that adds value to the business.

Prior to joining Cape in 2015, Chris worked with a number of high profile mining services organisations with annual turnovers in excess of $100 million and order books approaching $2 billion.

He is a specialist in financial reporting and cashflow management for complex businesses. Over the course of his career he has redesigned processes and structures to improve reporting and payments, streamlined cash flow forecasting and has also worked with closely with major investment banks to secure external funding for acquisitions and growth projects.

The role Chris plays in ensuring the ongoing strength of Cape cannot be understated. His track record of success and focus on managing and improving the financial health of the business ensures that Cape is able to provide first class services to its clients today, tomorrow and well into the future.

 

Nick Longo, Operations Manager

With a background in Mining and critical infrastructure sectors nearing on 20 years, Nick is a seasoned Operations and Project Manager with experience and expertise in ensuring the smooth delivery of outcomes within the required contracts and service scopes; and ensuring plans and schedules are delivered on time, within client budget, to spec and more importantly safely every time.

Nick’s talents see him drive ongoing results and adhere to long term targets through the completion of timely administration reporting and up to date forecasting of contract completion dates and associated costs. He uses his astute industry expertise and understanding to manage and maintain scope changes and managements, variations, KPI exemptions and delay claims in addition to ensuring the effective and timely execution of the procurement schedules.

Intrinsically safe, dynamic and motivated, Nick is a determined, committed and loyal individual who demonstrates high level interpersonal and communication skills on levels and fronts and has an excellent ability to manage teams in leading them to success.

Respectful, and full of Integrity, Passion, Persistency and high-level Accountability, Nick is an integral part of the Senior Management Team at Cape in ensuring the future is indeed on task for success.

Fiona Sammels

Human Resources Manager

Fiona is an agile, and highly focused Human Resources and Project Management professional with a proven track record of more than 15 plus years’ experience in the mining, oil, gas, construction and critical infrastructures sectors in providing and executing contract deliverables in the provision of long-term industry and market contracts.

With a strong hands-on operational background in strategic Human Resources and Project Management, Fiona is a highly effective communicator with the ability to influence, coach and mentor colleagues and engage stakeholders to ensure that KPIs, and service levels are executed on time and on budget.

As a strong Cape brand ambassador, Fiona is a leader in the space of transparency not only with our Cape Team, but additionally in maintaining accountability in ensuring we deliver on what we say we will in all areas of the business.

She is passionate about People and Culture within organisational structure in ensuring our people are developed managed and nurtured, and company cultures are focal in everything we do; in doing so collaborates at a high level working in tandem with clients, co-workers, and operatives alongside of targeted business strategies, core values, objectives and initiatives in providing executable solutions at operational and managerial levels within the business.
