Water Project: Fortescue Metals Group (Nullagine WA)
Through our Aboriginal KCU joint venture, Cape installed culverts for FMG at its Cloudbreak and Christmas Creek mine sites in the Pilbara. The scope of works included:
• Survey, level and alignment of culverts at each location
• Road diversions to accommodate two-way traffic
• Load, transport and unload all culvert pipes and other construction materials to each site
• Installation of Principal-supplied CSP culvert barrels with coupling bands
• Load, haul, place and compact Principal-supplied culvert bedding material
• Assembly and installation of Principal supplied CSP barrels using coupling bands, nuts and bolts
• Supply and installation of steel wire and star picket tie-downs and/or bulkabags to prevent pipe flotation during placement of CSF backfill
• Construct mixing of mixing pits for the preparation of CSF adjacent to each culvert location
• Mix and install CSF backfill using granular materials from the excavations, CSF is installed for 5m segments at the inlet and outlet ends of the culvert installations to a level of 150mm above the crown of the CSPs
• Conditioning, placement and compaction of granular backfill material to a minimum of 150mm above CSPs
