Cape Secures Western Power UPP Projects

Cape has announced it has secured a $12.5M of Western Power Underground Power Program (UPP) contracts.

The UPP has been running since 1996 and involves the replacement of overhead power lines in established areas with underground power infrastructure.

Cape has been awarded the Floreat east and Floreat West Packages which encompass 1781 homes, 57km of Horizontal Directional Drilling, removal of 965 power poles and the installation of 597 street lights.

Cape’s CEO Peter Rowles said it was another great win for the Cape business.

“Cape has a long history working for Western Power which started over 20 years ago when the business was named Underground Services Australia” Mr Rowles said.

“This award reaffirms our position as a market leader in the installation of underground utilities here in Western Australia.”

“Cape’s strength is in our diversified service offering which allows us to operate in multiple markets and allows us to provide long term employment opportunities for our people.”

The projects are due to commence in the coming weeks and will take approximately 14 months to complete.
